The oldest Protestant church in Bandikui, Rajasthan, boasts a rich history dating back 150 years. Spanning across 10 bighas of land in the Bandikui Railway Colony, the church, unfortunately, has fallen into disrepair due to a lack of maintenance. Its construction, however, is intertwined with the legacy of Lord Mayo, the Viceroy of the British Government in 1870. During Lord Mayo's tour of Jaipur and Ajmer, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of the church. Bandikui, as a significant railway junction, was home to over 60 British Christians and Anglo-Indian families, primarily comprising railway employees who resided in the vicinity of the church. The impetus for the church's construction stemmed from the demands of British railway officials stationed in Bandikui, who sought a place of worship for the community. As a result, the church was erected to cater to their spiritual needs. The abandoned church is in a deteriorating state. A few years ago, the church bell, doors, and windows were stolen. The stained glass windows with portraits of Mother Mary and Jesus were broken, along with the white marble Baptism pond. The wooden benches and other furniture were also stolen, leaving the hall empty, and it has now become a place where miscreants gather. More than 60 British Christians and Anglo-Indian families (mostly railway employees) used to reside near the church. However, after independence, most of these families shifted to other places in search of better opportunities.
