Built in memory of the great poet Nawab Mustafa Khan Shefta by his son Nawab Mohammad Ishak Khan in the late 19th century, Mustafa Castle became much more than a memorial. Under the leadership of Nawab Mohammad Ismail Khan, it turned into a political nerve centre during India’s freedom movement.
From Gandhi and Nehru to Jinnah, Sarojini Naidu, Maulana Azad, Hasrat Mohani and more — many of India’s most prominent leaders walked its corridors.
