Established in 1886, the Town Hall of Meerut stands as a testament to our rich heritage. While the administrative office of the Meerut Municipal Corporation was founded in 1892 during the British era, the land itself was graciously leased to the corporation by Sheikh Ghulam Mohiuddin, a member of the esteemed Bhayyaji family from Lalkurti.
Within the walls of this historic Town Hall lies a remarkable library, founded in the same year by Mr. Kalipad Bose, a prominent government leader. This library has hosted illustrious figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, the Ali Brothers, Jawaharlal Nehru, and many more. However, the most special guest was Swami Vivekananda, who spent nearly six months here, immersing himself in the vast knowledge the library offers.
