Inside the massive Chittorgarh Fort, away from the crowded paths, there is a quiet temple that still holds deep faith — the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple.
Every morning before sunrise, people start walking up towards this temple. Some carry water, some bring milk, and some just come with prayers. By 5 AM, the first rituals of the day begin.
At the center of the temple is a huge Shivling. It is about 4.5 feet tall and around 10 feet in circumference. Locally, people believe it weighs close to 10 tons. Its size alone makes it very special.
During the month of Shravan, this place becomes very active. Every day, large quantities of milk are offered on the Shivling as part of worship. The temple, which is otherwise peaceful, turns into a strong center of devotion.
There is also a popular belief that this temple is around 5000 years old. People say that during their exile, the Pandavas came here, and Bhima installed this Shivling.
But this story is based on local belief, not proven history.
What is real is the experience — the quiet surroundings, the height of the fort, and the feeling of being connected to something that has continued for generations.

चित्तौड़गढ़ दुर्ग के भीतर, भीड़भाड़ से थोड़ा दूर, एक ऐसा मंदिर है जहाँ आज भी गहरी आस्था महसूस होती है — नीलकंठ महादेव मंदिर।
हर दिन सुबह सूरज निकलने से पहले ही लोग इस मंदिर की ओर चलना शुरू कर देते हैं। कोई जल लेकर आता है, कोई दूध, और कोई सिर्फ अपनी श्रद्धा लेकर।
मंदिर के बीचों-बीच एक विशाल शिवलिंग स्थित है। इसकी ऊँचाई लगभग 4.5 फीट है और परिक्रमा लगभग 10 फीट की है। स्थानीय मान्यता के अनुसार इसका वजन करीब 10 टन बताया जाता है।
सावन के महीने में यहां का माहौल पूरी तरह बदल जाता है। हर दिन बड़ी मात्रा में दूध से अभिषेक किया जाता है और मंदिर भक्तों से भर जाता है।
यह भी मान्यता है कि यह मंदिर लगभग 5000 साल पुराना है और पांडवों के समय से जुड़ा हुआ है। कहा जाता है कि भीम ने इस शिवलिंग को यहां स्थापित किया था।
हालांकि यह ऐतिहासिक रूप से प्रमाणित नहीं है, बल्कि लोक मान्यता है।
लेकिन जो सच्चाई है, वह यह है कि यह स्थान आज भी जीवित है — लोगों की आस्था में, उनकी परंपरा में, और उस शांति में जो यहां महसूस होती है।
