????️ Strachey Hall was the first building of the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental (MAO) College – the seed that grew into today’s Aligarh Muslim University.
???? Its foundation was laid in 1877 and it was completed in 1885, with a cost of ₹90,000 – a staggering sum at the time.
???? Named after Sir John Strachey, the hall was inaugurated on 12 November 1894 by Lieutenant Governor Sir Charles Crosthwaite.
???? Inside, a special plaque honours 120 generous donors who each contributed ₹500 – a testament to the community’s commitment.
???? Strachey Hall not only reflects Anglo-Oriental architecture but also the spirit of modern Muslim education envisioned by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
????️ Now a heritage structure, parts of this hall are being transformed into a museum – keeping alive the story of the Aligarh Movement.

????️ स्ट्रैची हॉल मोहम्मडन एंग्लो-ओरिएंटल कॉलेज की पहली इमारत थी – यही कॉलेज आगे चलकर अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय बना।
???? इसकी नींव 1877 में रखी गई और 1885 में ₹90,000 की लागत से तैयार हुआ – उस समय यह बहुत बड़ी राशि थी।
???? इसे ब्रिटिश प्रशासक सर जॉन स्ट्रैची के सम्मान में नामित किया गया था और इसका उद्घाटन 12 नवंबर 1894 को लेफ्टिनेंट गवर्नर सर चार्ल्स क्रॉस्थवेट द्वारा किया गया।
???? हॉल के अंदर एक पट्टिका पर 120 दानदाताओं के नाम अंकित हैं, जिन्होंने प्रत्येक ने ₹500 का योगदान दिया – यह समाज के सहयोग की मिसाल है।
???? स्ट्रैची हॉल न केवल एंग्लो-ओरिएंटल वास्तुकला का प्रतीक है, बल्कि सर सैयद अहमद खान के आधुनिक मुस्लिम शिक्षा आंदोलन का भी स्मारक है।
????️ अब इसे एक संग्रहालय के रूप में भी विकसित किया जा रहा है, जिससे एएमयू की ऐतिहासिक धरोहर संजोई जा सके।
