Did you know? Long before the grand Musa Dakri Museum, AMU had already built a dedicated space for antiquities — the Nizam Museum.
????️ Vision Since MAO Days
Even during the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College era (1871–1921), there was a dream to establish a museum to preserve antiquities.
????️ Construction of Nizam Museum
A building titled Nizam Museum was constructed (now in Sir Syed Hall North). However, it mainly displayed a lone 13th-century stone inscription.
???? Collection Shifted
Sir Syed’s collected artifacts were eventually moved to the Picture Gallery and finally to the Musa Dakri Museum, which now showcases archaeological treasures and historic objects.
????️ Today
The original Nizam Museum structure still stands — now a heritage building, silently narrating AMU’s early vision of cultural preservation.

????️ एम.ए.ओ. कॉलेज के ज़माने से सपना
1871–1921 के दौरान ही एक प्राचीन वस्तुओं के संग्रहालय की कल्पना की गई थी।
????️ निज़ाम म्यूज़ियम का निर्माण
एक विशाल भवन बनाया गया (अब सर सैयद हॉल नॉर्थ में), जिसे ‘निज़ाम म्यूज़ियम’ कहा गया। यहाँ केवल एक 13वीं सदी का शिलालेख स्थापित किया गया था।
???? संग्रह स्थानांतरित हुआ
सर सैयद द्वारा एकत्र की गई वस्तुएँ पहले पिक्चर गैलरी में, फिर मूसा डकरी म्यूज़ियम में स्थानांतरित की गईं, जहाँ अब ये संग्रह सुरक्षित हैं।
????️ वर्तमान में
पुराना निज़ाम म्यूज़ियम भवन आज एक हेरिटेज बिल्डिंग के रूप में खड़ा है, एएमयू के सांस्कृतिक सपनों की चुपचाप गवाही देता हुआ।
