In the ancient land of Hastinapur, a city remembered through epics, faith, and spiritual journeys, rises a structure that does not merely touch the sky but attempts to recreate a path towards liberation itself — Shree Ashtapad Shwetambar Jain Tirth.
For followers of Jainism, Mount Ashtapad in the Himalayas holds profound spiritual importance. Jain tradition believes it to be the sacred place where Bhagwan Rishabhdev, the first Tirthankara, attained Moksha. The original mountain today remains inaccessible, wrapped in mystery and devotion. To bring that divine memory closer to devotees, the Jain community envisioned a symbolic replica here in Hastinapur.
In December 2009, this vision took form as a magnificent 151-foot-tall white marble structure built under the Shri Hastinapur Jain Shwetambar Teerth Trust. Designed as an eight-tier spiritual ascent symbolizing the journey toward enlightenment, the temple reflects the idea of the sacred “Ashtapad” — the eight steps of spiritual progress.
As visitors begin their ascent through the spiral ramp, silence slowly replaces worldly noise. One of the most fascinating architectural features is the Echo Temple, where sound reverberates gently, creating an atmosphere of meditation and introspection.
Inside the complex lies the Samavasaran — the divine preaching assembly associated with Tirthankaras — with idols of Bhagwan Rishabhdev facing all four directions, symbolizing universal wisdom. Across multiple floors stand 1,503 idols representing sages immersed in deep penance, reminding every visitor of discipline, sacrifice, and spiritual pursuit.
From the summit, Hastinapur unfolds quietly below, while the white marble monument reflects sunlight like a Himalayan peak imagined in faith rather than geography.
Today, Ashtapad Tirth is not only a pilgrimage but also a bridge between ancient Jain belief and modern devotion — a place where mythology, architecture, and spirituality walk together step by step toward inner peace.

महाभारतकालीन इतिहास और आध्यात्मिक परंपराओं से जुड़ी पवित्र नगरी हस्तिनापुर में एक ऐसा स्थल स्थित है जो केवल स्थापत्य नहीं, बल्कि आत्मा की यात्रा का प्रतीक बनकर खड़ा है — श्री अष्टापद श्वेताम्बर जैन तीर्थ।
जैन परंपरा के अनुसार हिमालय स्थित अष्टापद पर्वत वह दिव्य स्थान माना जाता है जहाँ प्रथम तीर्थंकर भगवान ऋषभदेव ने मोक्ष प्राप्त किया। मूल स्थल आज भी दुर्गम और रहस्यमय माना जाता है। इसी कारण श्रद्धालुओं को उस आध्यात्मिक अनुभव से जोड़ने के लिए हस्तिनापुर में उसकी प्रतीकात्मक प्रतिकृति निर्मित की गई।
दिसम्बर 2009 में श्री हस्तिनापुर जैन श्वेताम्बर तीर्थ ट्रस्ट द्वारा निर्मित यह भव्य मंदिर लगभग 151 फुट ऊँचा सफेद संगमरमर का अद्भुत स्थापत्य है। इसकी आठ मंजिलें आत्मज्ञान की ओर बढ़ते आठ आध्यात्मिक चरणों का प्रतीक मानी जाती हैं।
घुमावदार मार्ग से ऊपर चढ़ते हुए वातावरण धीरे-धीरे शांत और ध्यानमय हो जाता है। यहाँ स्थित ‘इको मंदिर’ इसकी विशेष पहचान है, जहाँ ध्वनि की गूंज एक अद्भुत आध्यात्मिक अनुभूति प्रदान करती है।
मंदिर के निचले भाग में समवसरण की रचना की गई है, जहाँ भगवान ऋषभदेव की प्रतिमाएँ चारों दिशाओं की ओर स्थापित हैं, जो सार्वभौमिक ज्ञान का प्रतीक हैं। दूसरी, तीसरी और चौथी मंजिल पर स्थापित 1503 तपस्वी प्रतिमाएँ साधना और त्याग की परंपरा को जीवंत करती हैं।
शिखर पर पहुँचकर जब हस्तिनापुर का शांत विस्तार दिखाई देता है, तब यह अनुभव केवल दर्शन का नहीं बल्कि आत्मचिंतन का बन जाता है।
आज अष्टापद तीर्थ आस्था, स्थापत्य और आध्यात्मिक विरासत का ऐसा संगम है जहाँ प्राचीन विश्वास आधुनिक श्रद्धा के साथ जीवित दिखाई देता है।
