Hidden within the quiet spiritual landscape of Lishri Dhana in Hapur stands a shrine that carries centuries of faith, devotion, and social reform. The story of Baba Dargai Sahab begins nearly 300 years ago, when a saint named Baba Durga Das chose a path beyond identity, caste, and division.
Over time, he came to be lovingly known as Baba Dargai Sahab — a figure who embodied the philosophy of the Udaseen sect, a spiritual lineage associated with Sri Chand, the son of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This tradition emphasized detachment, equality, and a universal approach to spirituality at a time when society was deeply divided by caste structures.
Baba Dargai Sahab’s teachings resonated strongly among marginalized communities, particularly the Jatav community, who embraced his message of dignity and unity. His presence transformed this land into a space not just of worship, but of social awakening.
A widely shared local belief speaks of Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II visiting the saint in search of blessings for an heir. It is said that after receiving divine grace, the emperor was blessed with a son and later commissioned a structure here in reverence. While rooted in oral tradition, this story continues to strengthen the spiritual aura of the place.
Today, the shrine remains active and alive under the guidance of Dr. Swami Dev Sharnan Ji, the 16th spiritual head, who has devoted over three decades to preserving its legacy. The Udaseen Ashram continues to stand not just as a religious site, but as a symbol of harmony, equality, and timeless faith.

हापुड़ के लिश्री धाना की शांत आध्यात्मिक धरती पर स्थित यह पावन स्थल केवल एक धार्मिक स्थान नहीं, बल्कि सदियों पुरानी आस्था, समानता और सामाजिक चेतना का प्रतीक है। लगभग 300 वर्ष पूर्व बाबा दुर्गा दास के रूप में जन्मे इस संत ने समाज की सीमाओं से परे जाकर एक अलग मार्ग चुना।
समय के साथ वे बाबा दरगाई साहब के नाम से विख्यात हुए। उनका जीवन उदासी संप्रदाय की शिक्षाओं से प्रेरित था, जिसकी स्थापना गुरु नानक देव जी के पुत्र श्री चंद जी से जुड़ी मानी जाती है। यह परंपरा वैराग्य, समानता और सभी के लिए एक समान आध्यात्मिक दृष्टि को बढ़ावा देती है।
बाबा दरगाई साहब ने ऐसे समय में समाज को एकता का संदेश दिया जब जातिगत भेदभाव गहराई से जड़ें जमा चुका था। विशेष रूप से जाटव समाज ने उनके विचारों को अपनाया और इस स्थान को एक नई पहचान मिली — आस्था के साथ-साथ आत्मसम्मान का केंद्र।
स्थानीय मान्यता के अनुसार, मुगल सम्राट शाह आलम द्वितीय यहां संतान प्राप्ति के आशीर्वाद के लिए आए थे। कहा जाता है कि बाबा की कृपा से उन्हें पुत्र रत्न की प्राप्ति हुई, जिसके बाद इस स्थान पर एक निर्माण करवाया गया। यद्यपि यह कथा ऐतिहासिक अभिलेखों से अधिक जनश्रुति पर आधारित है, फिर भी यह आज भी इस स्थल की आध्यात्मिक महत्ता को बढ़ाती है।
वर्तमान में यह धाम डॉ. स्वामी देव शरणन जी के संरक्षण में है, जो पिछले 31 वर्षों से इसकी परंपरा और विरासत को सहेज रहे हैं। यह आश्रम आज भी समाज में समानता और सद्भाव का संदेश देता हुआ एक जीवंत आध्यात्मिक केंद्र बना हुआ है।
