Locals say, this temple was never built here.
It arrived.
According to belief, a Jain muni — in deep spiritual power — was carrying this temple. But during meditation, he placed it on the ground… and when he rose, the temple refused to move.
It stayed.
As if it had chosen its own destination.
And that is where the mystery deepens.
There is a widespread claim that the temple has no visible foundation. Stories even suggest that when attempts were made to study its base, no conventional foundation was found.
But here, faith and fact take different paths.
There is no confirmed scientific documentation validating the absence of a foundation. What exists instead is a powerful local narrative — one that has turned this temple into a place of wonder.
Architecturally, the temple is said to be octagonal in form, with thick surrounding walls and no internal pillars supporting the structure — a design that itself sparks curiosity.
Inside resides the idol of tirthankar Ajitnath, revered deeply in the Digambar tradition — where the focus remains on inner liberation beyond material form.
Perhaps not every structure is meant to be solved.
Some are meant to be felt.

इंदौर के पास, शहर की हलचल से दूर, एक ऐसा मंदिर खड़ा है जिसे समझने से ज्यादा महसूस किया जाता है।
बनेडिया दिगंबर जैन मंदिर केवल एक धार्मिक स्थल नहीं, बल्कि एक जीवित कथा है — जो लोगों की आस्था में बसती है।
यह मंदिर दिगंबर जैन परंपरा से जुड़ा है, जहाँ त्याग, तपस्या और आत्मसंयम को सर्वोच्च माना जाता है।
स्थानीय मान्यता कहती है कि यह मंदिर यहाँ बनाया नहीं गया था।
यह आया था।
कहते हैं एक जैन मुनि इसे अपने साथ लेकर जा रहे थे, लेकिन ध्यान में लीन होते समय उन्होंने इसे भूमि पर रख दिया। जब तपस्या समाप्त हुई, तो यह मंदिर वहीं स्थिर हो गया — मानो उसने अपनी जगह स्वयं चुन ली हो।
यहीं से शुरू होता है इसका रहस्य।
लोगों का मानना है कि इस मंदिर की कोई नींव नहीं है। यहाँ तक कि कुछ कथाओं में कहा जाता है कि इसकी जाँच के दौरान भी पारंपरिक नींव का कोई प्रमाण नहीं मिला।
लेकिन यहाँ आस्था और तथ्य अलग-अलग रास्ते लेते हैं।
इस बात का कोई पुख्ता वैज्ञानिक प्रमाण उपलब्ध नहीं है कि यह मंदिर बिना नींव के खड़ा है। यह एक लोकविश्वास है — लेकिन इतना प्रभावशाली कि इसने इस स्थान को रहस्य से भर दिया है।
वास्तुकला की दृष्टि से यह मंदिर अष्टकोणीय बताया जाता है, जिसकी मोटी दीवारें हैं और अंदर कोई स्तंभ नहीं — जो अपने आप में जिज्ञासा पैदा करता है।
मंदिर के भीतर भगवान अजितनाथ जी की प्रतिमा विराजमान है, जिन्हें दिगंबर परंपरा में अत्यंत श्रद्धा से पूजा जाता है।
शायद हर चीज़ को समझना ज़रूरी नहीं होता।
कुछ धरोहरें सिर्फ महसूस करने के लिए होती हैं।
