Inside the mighty walls of Chittorgarh Fort, where history echoes with tales of sacrifice, valor, and unyielding pride, stands a quiet yet powerful shrine — the Baan Mata Temple.
This temple is not just another structure within the fort; it is believed to be the spiritual heart of Mewar. Dedicated to Maa Baan Mata, the Kuldevi of the Guhila (Gahlot) and later Sisodia rulers, the shrine represents the unseen force that guided warriors through some of the most intense battles in Rajput history.
Long before the rise of the Sisodias, the temple is believed to have existed in an early form. When Rana Hammir Singh reclaimed Chittorgarh in the 14th century from the Delhi Sultanate, tradition holds that he sought blessings from Baan Mata before his victory. From that moment onward, the goddess became deeply embedded in the identity of Mewar.
Before every battle, the rulers of Mewar would visit this temple for Shastra Pujan, seeking strength and divine protection. For them, victory was not just strategy — it was faith.
Surrounded by the silent ruins of a fort that witnessed three major sieges and countless sacrifices, the temple continues to radiate a sense of calm resilience. It stands as a reminder that behind every sword raised in defense of Chittorgarh, there was unwavering belief in a higher power.

राजस्थान के गौरव चित्तौड़गढ़ किला के विशाल प्राचीरों के भीतर, जहाँ हर पत्थर वीरता और बलिदान की कहानी कहता है, वहीं स्थित है एक शांत लेकिन अत्यंत शक्तिशाली स्थान — बाण माता मंदिर।
यह मंदिर केवल एक धार्मिक स्थल नहीं, बल्कि मेवाड़ की आत्मा का प्रतीक है। बाण माता, गहलोत और सिसोदिया वंश की कुलदेवी मानी जाती हैं, जिनकी आराधना के बिना कोई भी युद्ध या शुभ कार्य प्रारंभ नहीं होता था।
किंवदंतियों के अनुसार, यह मंदिर सिसोदिया शासन से पहले से ही अस्तित्व में था। जब महाराणा हम्मीर सिंह ने 14वीं शताब्दी में चित्तौड़गढ़ को पुनः प्राप्त किया, तब उन्होंने बाण माता की विशेष पूजा की। माना जाता है कि उनकी विजय माता के आशीर्वाद से ही संभव हुई।
हर युद्ध से पहले मेवाड़ के शासक और सैनिक इस मंदिर में आकर शस्त्र-पूजन करते थे और विजय का आशीर्वाद लेते थे। उनके लिए यह केवल परंपरा नहीं, बल्कि आत्मबल का स्रोत था।
तीन जौहर और असंख्य युद्धों के साक्षी इस दुर्ग के बीच, यह मंदिर आज भी अडिग खड़ा है — एक ऐसी शक्ति के रूप में जो समय से परे है।
