Within the grand walls of Chittorgarh Fort, a structure stands that has not only survived centuries… but has transformed with them.
The Kalika Mata Temple was not always dedicated to Goddess Kali.
Its origins trace back to the 8th century, when Bappa Rawal is traditionally credited with building it as a temple for Surya, the Sun God. Even today, its architectural form and intricate carvings reflect the early Pratihara style, preserving echoes of its original identity.
History, however, reshaped its purpose.
Following the siege of 1303 led by Alauddin Khilji, the temple suffered significant damage. Yet, like much of Chittorgarh, it rose again.
In the 14th century, Rana Hammir Singh restored the structure and rededicated it to Goddess Kali. What was once a centre of solar worship became a powerful place of Shakti devotion.
Today, during Navratri, thousands of devotees visit this temple, walking through layers of history to connect with a faith that has endured for centuries.

चित्तौड़गढ़ किला की विशाल दीवारों के भीतर एक ऐसा मंदिर स्थित है, जिसने केवल समय को नहीं देखा, बल्कि उसके साथ स्वयं को बदलते हुए भी जिया है।
कालिका माता मंदिर हमेशा से काली माता को समर्पित नहीं था।
इसकी शुरुआत 8वीं शताब्दी में हुई, जब बप्पा रावल द्वारा इसे सूर्य देव के मंदिर के रूप में बनवाया गया था। इसकी स्थापत्य शैली और नक्काशी आज भी प्रतिहार काल की छाप को स्पष्ट रूप से दर्शाती है।
1303 में अलाउद्दीन खिलजी के आक्रमण के बाद यह मंदिर क्षतिग्रस्त हो गया। लेकिन यह अंत नहीं था।
14वीं शताब्दी में राणा हम्मीर सिंह ने इसका पुनर्निर्माण करवाया और इसे देवी काली को समर्पित कर दिया। सूर्य उपासना का यह केंद्र शक्ति की आराधना का प्रमुख स्थल बन गया।
आज नवरात्रि के अवसर पर हजारों श्रद्धालु यहाँ आते हैं और इस स्थान के इतिहास और आस्था को महसूस करते हैं।
