ISSOPUR TEELA TEMPLE BUILT BY SADASHIVRAO BHAU DURING THE 3RD BATTLE OF PANIPAT,KAIRANA,MUZZAFARNAGAR. StudioDharma recently discovered an ancient temple adorned with exquisite frescoes at Issopur Teela village in the Kairana district of Muzaffarnagar. This temple, once a magnificent structure built with Lakhori bricks, now stands amidst ongoing new construction activities in the name of development. The old construction has been demolished, making way for the new, but the beauty of the temple's original frescoes remains at risk. The temple at Issopur Teela village, believed to have been built by Sadashivrao Bhau Peshwa around 1760-1761, holds historical significance dating back approximately 264 years. Sadashivrao Bhau Peshwa, an important figure in Indian history, spent around six months at this very site. Sadashivrao Bhau Peshwa (3 August 1730 – 14 January 1761) was son of Chimaji Appa (younger brother of Bajirao I) and Rakhmabai (Pethe family) and the nephew of Baji Rao I. He was a finance minister during the reign of Maratha emperor Rajaram II. He led the Maratha army at the Third Battle of Panipat. Sadashivrao Bhau, also known as Sadashivrao Bhau Peshwa, was a prominent statesman and military leader of the Maratha Empire during the 18th century. He played a crucial role in the Third Battle of Panipat in 1761, a significant conflict in Indian history that resulted in a decisive victory for the Afghan forces under Ahmad Shah Durrani against the Marathas. Sadashivrao Bhau was a skilled strategist and administrator who held a position of great influence within the Maratha Empire. His leadership and military prowess were instrumental in shaping the course of events during a turbulent period in Indian history. Despite facing defeat in the Battle of Panipat, Sadashivrao Bhau's legacy continues to be remembered for his contributions to the Maratha Empire and his role in shaping the region's history. Despite our inquiries, the local residents seemed hesitant to share information about the temple. Whether due to a lack of knowledge or a reluctance to speak, the true story behind the temple remains obscured. StudioDharma implore the local authorities to take action to preserve the stunning frescoes within the temple. It is crucial that these historical and artistic treasures are safeguarded for future generations to appreciate. It will be interesting to observe how long these unique frescoes endure amidst the changing landscape of development.
