Khiwai, Meerut — Where a Village Grew Around Faith.
Long ago, when the village of Khiwai in Sarurpur (Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh) was first settled, devotees placed a small idol of the Mother Goddess deep inside a pit. It was just a simple shrine on the edge of the village, yet it became the spiritual anchor for the people who lived there.
With time, the shrine grew into a temple. The single idol of Goddess Durga expanded into a sacred complex that today houses Lord Shiva, Hanumanji, and the magnificent idol of Maa Shakambhari. Generations of families have offered prayers here, believing that sincere wishes made in this temple are fulfilled.
After Navratri, the temple transforms into a vibrant five-day fair attended by devotees from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and beyond. The sounds of prayers, the colours of devotion, and the legacy of centuries-old faith continue to define the soul of Khiwai.

बहुत समय पहले, जब खिवाई गाँव (सरूरपुर, मेरठ जिला, उत्तर प्रदेश) की बसावट शुरू हुई थी, श्रद्धालुओं ने गाँव के किनारे एक गहरे गड्ढे में माता की एक छोटी मूर्ति स्थापित की। साधारण सा यह स्थान समय के साथ लोगों की आस्था का केंद्र बन गया।
धीरे-धीरे यह छोटा मंदिर विशाल स्वरूप लेने लगा। आज यहाँ माँ दुर्गा के साथ भगवान शिव, हनुमानजी और माँ शाकंभरी की भव्य प्रतिमा स्थापित है। यहाँ आने वाले श्रद्धालु मानते हैं कि सच्चे मन से माँगी गई मन्नतें यहाँ अवश्य पूरी होती हैं।
नवरात्रि के बाद यहाँ पाँच दिन का विशाल मेला लगता है, जिसमें उत्तर प्रदेश, हरियाणा, दिल्ली, राजस्थान सहित कई राज्यों से श्रद्धालु पहुँचते हैं। यह मेला केवल उत्सव नहीं, बल्कि सदियों पुरानी आस्था का जीवंत प्रमाण है।
