Built in 1663, the Maharaja Devi Singh Bundela Chhatri, though modest in scale compared to the Bharat Shah memorial, is a remarkable blend of architectural grace and cultural inclusiveness. Located in the heritage town of Chanderi (Madhya Pradesh), the structure’s dual-level eaves give it the illusion of three storeys, though inside it is a single space.
What makes it truly unique is that three of its eight walls feature mosque-like arches and are adorned with verses from the Holy Quran. Though Maharaja Devi Singh was a Hindu Bundela ruler, this gesture symbolised his respect for his Muslim subjects, who could pray for his soul on his death anniversaries. Such inclusiveness reflects the spirit of communal harmony that once prevailed in Bundela courts.

सन् 1663 में निर्मित, महाराजा देवी सिंह बुंदेला छतरी, महाराजा भरत शाह की छतरी से आकार में छोटी है, पर अपनी अनूठी शैली के कारण अत्यंत विशेष है। मध्य प्रदेश के चंदेरी नगर में स्थित यह स्मारक बाहर से त्रि-तल जैसा प्रतीत होता है, किंतु भीतर यह एकल संरचना है।
इसकी सबसे अद्भुत बात यह है कि इसकी आठ दीवारों में से तीन पर मस्जिद जैसी मेहराबें बनी हैं और उन पर कुरान की आयतों की नक्काशी है। यद्यपि महाराजा देवी सिंह एक हिंदू बुंदेला शासक थे, यह उनके मुस्लिम प्रजा के प्रति सम्मान और सौहार्द का प्रतीक था—ताकि वे उनकी पुण्यतिथि पर उनकी आत्मा की शांति के लिए प्रार्थना कर सकें। यह स्मारक उस दौर के सांप्रदायिक सौहार्द का अद्भुत उदाहरण है।
