In the quiet landscape near Rupwas in Bharatpur district, Rajasthan, lies a temple that is not just built—but believed to have been revealed. The Rudawal Hanuman Temple stands today as a powerful center of devotion, but its story begins not with architects, but with a dream.
Historically, Rudawal as a settlement traces its modern foundation to 1808, when Maharaja Roop Singh of Rupwas established the region. Yet the land itself carries echoes of much older history, being geographically close to the historic battlefield of Khanwa (1527), linking it to the broader currents of North Indian history.
What truly defines this temple, however, is a local oral tradition passed down through generations.
According to local accounts (reported in sources like News18 and regional narratives), the area was once a dense forest. A patwari, exhausted from travel, rested beneath a tree and fell asleep. In his dream, Lord Hanuman appeared and revealed that his idol lay buried beneath that very ground, asking to be brought to light.
Awakened and moved, the patwari shared this vision with villagers. Excavation followed—and remarkably, an idol of Hanuman was indeed found. The idol was installed on the same site, first as a humble shrine, eventually growing into the temple we see today.
This origin story remains a matter of faith and local belief rather than documented archaeological evidence, yet its cultural impact is undeniable.
Over time, the temple—also known as “Dhandhar Wale Hanuman Ji”—became one of the most important Hanuman shrines in Bharatpur. Devotees from Rajasthan and neighboring states visit regularly, especially during the Chaitra month when pilgrims en route to Kaila Devi make it a ritual stop.
A unique tradition here is the offering of “Dal Baati Churma” as thanksgiving once wishes are fulfilled—a practice deeply rooted in regional culture.
From a dream in a forest to a living center of faith, Rudawal Hanuman Temple stands as a reminder that history is not always written in stone—sometimes, it is carried in belief.

रुदावल हनुमान मंदिर, भरतपुर – जहाँ आस्था धरती से प्रकट हुई
भरतपुर जिले के रूपवास के पास स्थित रुदावल हनुमान मंदिर सिर्फ एक मंदिर नहीं, बल्कि आस्था की जीवित कहानी है।
ऐतिहासिक रूप से रुदावल क्षेत्र की आधुनिक स्थापना 1808 में महाराजा रूप सिंह द्वारा मानी जाती है, जबकि यह क्षेत्र 1527 के खानवा युद्ध के ऐतिहासिक भूभाग के पास स्थित है।
लेकिन इस मंदिर की असली पहचान एक लोककथा से जुड़ी है।
स्थानीय मान्यता के अनुसार, यह स्थान कभी घने जंगल से घिरा था। एक पटवारी थककर एक पेड़ के नीचे सो गया। स्वप्न में उसे बजरंगबली के दर्शन हुए, जिन्होंने बताया कि उनकी प्रतिमा उसी स्थान पर धरती के अंदर विद्यमान है।
पटवारी ने यह बात गांव वालों को बताई और खुदाई कराई गई। खुदाई में वास्तव में हनुमान जी की प्रतिमा प्राप्त हुई, जिसे वहीं स्थापित किया गया। शुरुआत में एक छोटी कुटिया बनी, जो समय के साथ मंदिर में परिवर्तित हो गई।
यह कथा आस्था और लोकविश्वास पर आधारित है, जिसका कोई ठोस पुरातात्विक प्रमाण उपलब्ध नहीं है, लेकिन इसकी धार्मिक महत्ता अत्यंत गहरी है।
आज “ढंढार वाले हनुमान जी” के नाम से प्रसिद्ध यह मंदिर भरतपुर का प्रमुख आस्था केंद्र है। चैत्र मास में कैलादेवी जाने वाले अधिकांश श्रद्धालु यहां दर्शन अवश्य करते हैं।
यहां मनोकामना पूर्ण होने पर दाल-बाटी-चूरमा का भोग चढ़ाने की परंपरा विशेष रूप से प्रचलित है।
