Sheron Wali Kothi – The Lion Mansion of Meerut.
In the historic city of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, stands the majestic Sheron Wali Kothi, built in 1890 by Khan Sahab Rashid Ahmed, a contractor to the British Army. For his services, the British conferred upon him three titles – King of Dakshai (Himachal), Khan Sahab, and Nawab Sahab.
The mansion earned its name Sheron Wali Kothi because Nawab Sahab was deeply fond of keeping lions as pets. Even today, this structure stands as a striking reminder of Meerut’s colonial heritage and the grandeur of a bygone era.

शेरों वाली कोठी – मेरठ की शाही पहचान
उत्तर प्रदेश के मेरठ शहर में स्थित शेरों वाली कोठी का निर्माण 1890 में खान साहब राशिद अहमद द्वारा किया गया था, जो ब्रिटिश आर्मी के ठेकेदार थे। उनकी सेवाओं के सम्मान में अंग्रेज़ों ने उन्हें तीन उपाधियों से नवाज़ा – King of Dakshi (हिमाचल), Khan Sahab और Nawab Sahab।
इस कोठी को शेरों वाली कोठी नाम इसलिए मिला क्योंकि नवाब साहब को शेर पालने का विशेष शौक था। आज भी यह इमारत मेरठ की औपनिवेशिक धरोहर और बीते जमाने की शाही भव्यता की गवाही देती है।
