The Salawa Jain Temple, also known as Shri Rishabh Dev Digamber Jain Atishaya Kshetra, is said to house an idol of Lord Adinath (Rishabh Dev) believed to be over 1,200 years old, while the temple structure itself dates back around 600 years. It is believed that the site originally began as a chaitya (early prayer hall) and was later expanded by the local Jain community into a grand temple of remarkable architecture and faith.
From the majestic entrance gate to the three sanctum altars and the 108-foot-tall shikhara (spire), every detail radiates grace and devotion. Local accounts suggest that Begum Samru of Sardhana, renowned for her architectural patronage, was so captivated by the lofty spires of Salawa’s temple that she instructed the domes of her Sardhana Church to be built to a similar height — a fascinating cross-cultural connection between two remarkable monuments of faith.

पश्चिम उत्तर प्रदेश की पावन धरती पर स्थित मेरठ जनपद का ग्राम सलावा, अहिंसा, दया और करुणा की अनादि परंपरा को आज भी अपने आँचल में समेटे हुए है। यही पर स्थित है — श्री आदिनाथ दिगम्बर जैन मंदिर, सलावा, जो ग्रामीण परिवेश में भक्ति और श्रद्धा का अद्भुत उदाहरण है।
यह मंदिर श्री ऋषभ देव दिगम्बर जैन अतीशय क्षेत्र के रूप में प्रसिद्ध है। स्थानीय मान्यता है कि यहाँ की मुख्य वेदी पर विराजमान भगवान आदिनाथ (ऋषभ देव) की प्रतिमा लगभग 1200 वर्ष पुरानी है, जबकि वर्तमान मंदिर संरचना लगभग छः सौ वर्ष पुरानी मानी जाती है। आरंभ में यह एक चैत्यालय था, जिसे बाद में जैन समाज के लोगों ने मिलकर एक भव्य मंदिर का रूप दिया।
भव्य प्रवेश द्वार, तीन वेदियाँ और धरातल से 108 फ़ुट ऊँचा शिखर इसकी अलौकिक शोभा को और बढ़ा देते हैं। कहा जाता है कि सरधना की शासक बेग़म समरू इस मंदिर के ऊँचे शिखरों से इतनी प्रभावित हुईं कि उन्होंने अपने प्रसिद्ध सरधना चर्च के गुम्बद उन्हीं की ऊँचाई के समान बनवाए।
यह मंदिर आज भी अतीशय क्षेत्र के रूप में श्रद्धालुओं की आस्था का केंद्र है — जहाँ की गई प्रार्थनाएँ पूर्ण होती हैं। इस पावन स्थल की प्रत्येक ईंट अहिंसा और आत्मबल का संदेश देती है।
