ST.
ST.PAUL’S METHODIST CHURCH,MEERUT.
We are proud to share the rich history of St. Paul’s Methodist Church, located in Meerut. The foundation stone of this historical landmark was laid by Major General Cyril John Deverell CB, the Commander of the United Provinces District, on 18 April 1924. It is believed that the church was constructed in the year 1941, serving as a Methodist place of worship within the British military cantonment of Meerut.
During the 19th century, Meerut emerged as a pivotal military base under the rule of the East India Company and later under the administration of the British government in London. As a result, a cantonment was established to accommodate British and European settlers and their families. To meet the spiritual needs of this diverse and growing community, several churches, including Methodist congregations, were established.
St. Paul’s Methodist Church stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of faith and community within the historical context of Meerut. We are honored to be part of this cherished heritage and look forward to continuing this tradition of spiritual enrichment and community service.
