Tucked away in Surajpur village, near Ladpur in Hathras district, this lesser-known marvel has silently stood for over 150 years, preserving echoes of medieval rule and regional pride.
????️ Built in 1870 by Raja Thakur Heera Singh Ji, Surajpur Fort features thick walls, circular bastions, and lofty watchtowers, evoking the grandeur of Agra Fort.
???? It stands on the site of an earlier mud fortress, once linked with other historic forts of Lakhnu, Chandrawas, Sahpau, and Awagarh — forming a network of estates that once shaped Hathras’ political landscape.
???? A small temple in the fort complex continues to attract devotees even today, while the rest of the structure whispers of forgotten glory.
???? Although not a popular tourist spot yet, it serves as an open-air classroom for heritage explorers, a wonderful place to introduce children to India’s architectural past.

हाथरस ज़िले के सुरजपुर गांव, लाडपुर के पास स्थित यह किला करीब 150 वर्षों से खड़ा है — गवाही देता हुआ उन शाही दिनों की जब यह क्षेत्र स्थानीय शासकों के अधीन था।
????️ 1870 में राजा ठा. हीरा सिंह जी द्वारा निर्मित, यह किला मजबूत दीवारों, गोल बुर्जों और चौकसी मीनारों के लिए जाना जाता है — जिसकी बनावट किसी आगरा किले जैसी भव्यता लिए हुए है।
???? यह किला पहले की एक कच्ची गढ़ी पर बना था, जो लखनू, चंद्रवास, सहपऊ और आवागढ़ की रियासतों से जुड़ी हुई थी।
???? आज भी किले के प्रांगण में बना मंदिर स्थानीय लोगों की आस्था का केंद्र बना हुआ है, जबकि किले की दीवारें एक भूले हुए वैभव की कहानियाँ कहती हैं।
