The Hidden Gem of Agra Fort – Nagina Masjid.
Tucked within the majestic Agra Fort lies a serene marble mosque — Nagina Masjid, also known as the Jewel Mosque. Commissioned by Shah Jahan between 1631 and 1640, it was built exclusively for the royal ladies of the Mughal court.
Crafted in gleaming white marble, the mosque features a three-arched façade, three graceful domes crowned with lotus finials, and the elegant “Bangladar” (churidar) design that accentuates the central arch.
While simpler in design than the nearby Moti Masjid, its charm lies in its quiet grace and royal exclusivity. A small water tank for ablution and a hidden balcony overlooking the Mina Bazaar reveal its delicate purpose — prayer in privacy, and a glimpse of royal leisure.
One of the three mosques inside Agra Fort, Nagina Masjid still whispers stories of devotion, elegance, and regal life.
आगरा किले का छुपा हुआ नगीना – नगीना मस्जिद
आगरा किले की भव्यता के बीच एक शांत और सुंदर संगमरमर की मस्जिद स्थित है — नगीना मस्जिद, जिसे “ज्वेल मस्जिद” भी कहा जाता है। इसे शाहजहाँ ने 1631 से 1640 के बीच खास तौर पर शाही महिलाओं के लिए बनवाया था।
सफेद संगमरमर से बनी यह मस्जिद तीन खूबसूरत गुम्बदों, त्रि-मेहराबी मुखौटे और “बंगलादार” डिज़ाइन के लिए जानी जाती है, जिसमें बीच वाला मेहराब सबसे बड़ा है और आकर्षण का केंद्र है।
मोटी मस्जिद की तुलना में इसकी बनावट सादी है, पर इसकी खासियत इसकी गरिमा और शाही निजता में है। पूर्वी दीवार पर वुज़ू के लिए छोटा सा हौज और मीना बाज़ार की ओर देखने वाली बालकनी, इसकी खास भूमिका को दर्शाते हैं — इबादत और पर्दे में शाही नज़ारा।
आगरा किले की तीन मस्जिदों में से एक, नगीना मस्जिद आज भी उस दौर की नज़ाकत और श्रद्धा की गवाही देती है।
