In the historic town of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, stands the 200-year-old Haveli of Nawab Kokab Hameed — an ancestral residence that carries within its walls stories of politics, prestige, and princely lifestyle.
The family’s journey began with Karam Ali, a senior officer during the British era, who held jagirs around Baghpat. His descendants rose in stature: Khurshid Ali, Rao Abdul Hameed, Nawab Jamshed Ali — and later Nawab Kokab Hameed, who became a three-time minister and five-time MLA in Uttar Pradesh. The haveli, built with artisans from Iran, features an Iranian-style architecture with elegant halls and a historic library once filled with rare manuscripts and documents.
Nawab Kokab Hameed never allowed the glory of this haveli to fade. Through his politics, decisions, and noble deeds, he kept its dignity alive. After his passing, his son Ahmed Hameed continues the family’s tradition of public service and positive leadership, honoring the values of respect, interfaith harmony, and humanity that defined the Nawabs of Baghpat.
Even today, the Haveli and the Nawabs’ Cemetery remain major heritage attractions of Baghpat — places where history, politics, and culture meet.

उत्तरप्रदेश के बागपत में स्थित है दो सौ वर्ष पुरानी नवाब कोकब हमीद की हवेली — एक ऐसी हवेली जिसने राजनीति, शान-ओ-शौकत और राजसी जीवन की गाथाएँ अपने आँगन में समेट रखी हैं।
इस परिवार की शुरुआत करम अली से हुई, जो ब्रिटिश शासन में उच्च अधिकारी थे और बागपत क्षेत्र में उनकी ज़गीर थी। उनके उत्तराधिकारी खुरशिद अली, राव अब्दुल हमीद, नवाब जामशेद अली और आगे चलकर नवाब कोकब हमीद बने, जो तीन बार उत्तरप्रदेश सरकार में मंत्री और पाँच बार विधायक रहे। ईरानी कारीगरों द्वारा निर्मित इस हवेली की वास्तुकला में ईरानी शैली की झलक है। यहाँ का पुस्तकालय दुर्लभ पांडुलिपियों और ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेजों से भरा हुआ था।
नवाब कोकब हमीद ने अपनी राजनीति और जनसेवा से हवेली की गरिमा को सदैव ऊँचा रखा। उनके निधन के बाद आज उनका बेटा अहमद हमीद उसी परंपरा को आगे बढ़ाते हुए बागपत की जनता की सेवा कर रहा है।
आज भी हवेली और नवाबों का कब्रिस्तान बागपत के प्रमुख ऐतिहासिक स्थल हैं, जहाँ विरासत और संस्कृति एक साथ सांस लेती है।
