The Magnificent Birla Mandir, Mathura. The Birla Mandir in Mathura—also revered as the Gita Mandir—was constructed by industrialist Jugal Kishore Birla in memory of his parents and dedicated to Lord Lakshmi Narayan. It was officially inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi on February 25, 1946, who stipulated that it remain open to all castes . The temple is renowned for its Gita Stambh: the complete 700 verses of the Bhagavad Gita are inscribed on its pillars. The central sanctum houses deities of Lakshmi Narayan, Sita Ram, Radha Krishna, and a large statue of Hanuman. Built from red sandstone and white marble, it features intricate carvings and murals of Indian deities . The temple celebrates Gita Jayanti with great devotion.
