In the sacred town of Hastinapur, Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), the ancient Digambar Jain Bada Mandir has stood as a centre of devotion for centuries. To its left lies the revered shrine of Mata Ambika, lovingly called Ambey Maa.
In 1979, during canal excavation, the idol of Mata Ambika was discovered here. From that very day, this shrine became a beacon of faith, and devotees believe that since Ambey Maa’s arrival, the entire region has witnessed continuous progress and prosperity.
According to Jain tradition, Ambika Devi is the protective Yakshi of Tirthankar Neminath. The idol at Hastinapur is unique, with the figure of Bhagwan Neminath carved on the crown of the goddess. She is often depicted with her two children, Shubhanakar and Prabhakar, seated beside her under a tree, accompanied by Sarvanubhuti and Kushmandini.
Legends tell us of Agnila, the devoted wife of Somasmaran, who once offered food to sage Varadatta. For this act of compassion, she was banished from her home along with her children. In her penance and faith, she was transformed into Goddess Ambika, while her husband was reborn as a lion, who became her vahana. From then on, she has been worshipped as the divine mother — the fulfiller of wishes and protector of devotees.
Even today, countless pilgrims visit Hastinapur with their heartfelt prayers, certain that Ambey Maa never lets a true devotee leave empty-handed. Her temple radiates the living spirit of faith, miracle, and motherly grace.

हस्तिनापुर, मेरठ (उत्तर प्रदेश) के प्राचीन जैन बड़ा मंदिर के बायीं ओर स्थित है माँ अम्बिका का पावन मंदिर, जिसे श्रद्धालु प्रेम से माँ अम्बे कहते हैं।
1979 में नहर की खुदाई के दौरान यहाँ माँ अम्बिका की प्राचीन मूर्ति प्रकट हुई थी। उसी दिन से यह स्थान चमत्कारी माना गया और श्रद्धालु मानते हैं कि माँ अम्बे के आगमन के बाद से यह क्षेत्र निरंतर प्रगति और समृद्धि की ओर बढ़ा है।
जैन परंपरा में, माँ अम्बिका देवी भगवान नेमिनाथ की यक्षी मानी जाती हैं। हस्तिनापुर की मूर्ति विशेष है क्योंकि इसके शीर्ष पर भगवान नेमिनाथ की आकृति अंकित है। उन्हें प्रायः अपने दो बच्चों शुभानकर और प्रभाकर के साथ, वृक्ष के नीचे, तथा सहचर सरवानुभूति और कुष्मांडिनी के साथ दर्शाया जाता है।
किंवदंती कहती है कि साधिका अग्निला, जिसने ऋषि वरदत्त को उपवास खोलने हेतु भोजन दिया, समाज द्वारा त्याग दी गई। वह अपने बच्चों शुभानकर और प्रभाकर के साथ घर से निकाली गईं। परंतु अपनी तपस्या और भक्ति के बल पर वह देवी अम्बिका बन गईं। उनके पति का पुनर्जन्म शेर के रूप में हुआ और वह उनका वाहन बन गया। तभी से माँ अम्बे को कुलदेवी, कामना-पूर्ण करने वाली देवी और रक्षक माता के रूप में पूजा जाता है।
आज भी हजारों भक्त माँ अम्बे के दरबार में आते हैं और विश्वास करते हैं कि सच्चे मन से माँगी गई हर मनोकामना पूरी होती है। यह मंदिर श्रद्धा, मातृशक्ति और भक्ति का जीवंत प्रतीक है।
