Chhatri of Maharaja Bhim Singh Rana – A Forgotten Legacy at Gwalior Fort.
Tucked inside the majestic Gwalior Fort lies the elegant Chhatri of Maharaja Bhim Singh Rana, a symbol of the Jat ruler’s valor and vision. Bhim Singh Rana of Gohad (1707–1756) was a prominent figure who occupied Gwalior Fort from 1740 to 1756. During his rule, he initiated several architectural works of significance, including the serene Bhimtal and his own chhatri.
Later, Maharaja Chhatra Singh Rana (1757–1782) also ruled and left his mark on the fort’s legacy. The Jat Samaj Kalyan Parishad organizes a Ram Navami fair every year at this very site, keeping alive the cultural and historical memory of these Jat rulers.
These monuments—forts, temples, wells, gardens—built by the rulers of Gohad, are not just structures but silent storytellers of our proud heritage.

ग्वालियर किले के भीतर स्थित महाराजा भीम सिंह राणा की छतरी न केवल वास्तुकला का अद्भुत नमूना है, बल्कि गोहद के वीर शासक की स्मृति को संजोए हुए है। भीम सिंह राणा (1707–1756) ने 1740 से 1756 तक ग्वालियर किले पर शासन किया और इस दौरान भीमताल व अपनी छतरी जैसी कई ऐतिहासिक संरचनाएं बनवाईं।
बाद में महाराजा छत्र सिंह राणा (1757–1782) ने भी शासन किया और किले के इतिहास में अपना योगदान दिया। यहाँ हर वर्ष राम नवमी के अवसर पर जाट समाज कल्याण परिषद, ग्वालियर की ओर से एक मेला आयोजित किया जाता है, जो इस स्थान की सांस्कृतिक विरासत को जीवंत बनाए रखता है।
गोहद के जाट शासकों द्वारा बनवाए गए किले, महल, मंदिर, कुएँ और बाग केवल पत्थरों की इमारतें नहीं, बल्कि हमारी ऐतिहासिक धरोहर की मूक गाथाएं हैं।
