In the year 1260, in Kalkahari near Delhi, a child named Yusuf was born — destined to become one of the most revered Sufi saints of Central India. As a young man, he became a disciple of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, one of the greatest Sufi saints of the Delhi Sultanate.
During the reign of Alauddin Khilji, Hazrat Nizamuddin sent him to Chanderi to serve the people. In 1305, Hazrat Wajihuddin Yusuf arrived in Chanderi with a mission to guide and heal souls. His khanqah soon became a spiritual center, drawing thousands of devotees not only from Chanderi but from far beyond.
But such deep love also invited jealousy. The provincial governor, Malik Tamar, grew envious of his rising popularity and attacked the khanqah. Hazrat Wajihuddin briefly moved to Lukhnoti but returned after seeking guidance from his master in Delhi — for his calling was to serve Chanderi. He built a new khanqah and continued his service until his death in 1328.
His dargah, located on Rajghat Road, still stands as a place of faith. Around it lie the tombs of his most devoted followers. To the left are two other saintly mausoleums, decorated with intricate jaali work reminiscent of the Nizamuddin tomb in Delhi. Sadly, these structures today face neglect and are in urgent need of restoration.
Every year from March 27 to 29, devotees gather to celebrate Urs, offering chaadars and prayers for blessings. The soft wind, the reciting of verses, and the timeless silence around the dargah carry centuries of spiritual devotion and love.

सन् 1260 में दिल्ली के पास कल्कहरी में यूसुफ़ नामक एक बालक का जन्म हुआ। बड़े होकर वे हज़रत निज़ामुद्दीन औलिया के शिष्य बने — वही सूफी संत जिन्होंने दिल्ली की धरती को भक्ति और इंसानियत से रोशन किया।
आलाउद्दीन खिलजी के शासनकाल में हज़रत निज़ामुद्दीन ने अपने शिष्य हज़रत वजिहुद्दीन यूसुफ़ को चाँदेरी भेजा ताकि वे वहाँ की जनता की सेवा कर सकें। सन् 1305 में वे चाँदेरी पहुँचे और उनकी ख़ानक़ाह आध्यात्मिकता का केंद्र बन गई। दूर-दूर से श्रद्धालु यहाँ आने लगे।
लेकिन उनकी लोकप्रियता से प्रांतीय गवर्नर मलिक तमार ईर्ष्या करने लगा और उसने हमला किया। हालात बिगड़ने पर हज़रत वजिहुद्दीन कुछ समय के लिए लुखनोटी चले गए। दिल्ली में अपने गुरु से मार्गदर्शन लेने के बाद वे फिर लौटे — क्योंकि उनकी डगर चाँदेरी की सेवा में ही थी। उन्होंने नई ख़ानक़ाह बनवाई और अपनी मृत्यु 1328 तक सेवा करते रहे।
उनकी दरगाह राजघाट रोड पर स्थित है। उसके चारों ओर उनके समर्पित अनुयायियों की कब्रें बनी हैं। बाईं ओर दो अन्य सूफी संतों के मकबरे हैं, जिन पर बारीक जाली और नक्काशी है — जो दिल्ली की निज़ामुद्दीन दरगाह की याद दिलाती है। अफसोस, ये विरासत अब जर्जर हालत में है और इसके संरक्षण की सख़्त ज़रूरत है।
हर साल 27 से 29 मार्च तक यहाँ उर्स मनाया जाता है। भक्त श्रद्धा से चादर चढ़ाते हैं और मन्नतें माँगते हैं। दरगाह की खामोशी में सदियों की आस्था और प्रेम की गूँज सुनाई देती है।
