OLD MUTINY JAIL,KESARGANJ,MEERUT. Old Mutiny Time Jail, Meerut, was the location of the oldest prison in Meerut during the time of the Britishers. Under the leadership of Dhan Singh Gurjar Kotwal, the mob raised the slogan of 'kill Firangi' and killed the British in Sadar Bazaar and Cantt area. Dhan Singh Kotwal emerged as a revolutionary figure, providing new direction to the crowd against British rule. This step by Dhan Singh instilled fear in the British. At 2 o'clock in the night, Dhan Singh and the mob attacked this Meerut jail. They broke the jail, freeing 836 prisoners and setting it on fire. The released prisoners also joined the revolution. Prior to this, the revolutionary mob, led by the police force, carried out revolutionary incidents throughout Sadar Bazaar and Cantt area. पुरानी विद्रोही जेल, केसरगंज, मेरठ। ओल्ड म्यूटिनी टाइम जेल, मेरठ, अंग्रेजों के समय में मेरठ की सबसे पुरानी जेल थी। धन सिंह गुर्जर कोतवाल के नेतृत्व में भीड़ ने 'फिरंगी को मारो' का नारा लगाया और सदर बाजार तथा कैंट क्षेत्र में अंग्रेजों को मार डाला। धन सिंह कोतवाल एक क्रांतिकारी व्यक्ति के रूप में उभरे, जिन्होंने ब्रिटिश शासन के खिलाफ भीड़ को नई दिशा प्रदान की। धन सिंह के इस कदम से अंग्रेजों में भय व्याप्त हो गया। रात 2 बजे धन सिंह और भीड़ ने मेरठ की इस जेल पर हमला कर दिया. उन्होंने जेल तोड़ दी, 836 कैदियों को छुड़ा लिया और आग लगा दी। रिहा किये गये कैदी भी क्रांति में शामिल हो गये। इसके पहले पुलिस बल के नेतृत्व में क्रान्तिकारी भीड़ ने पूरे सदर बाज़ार और कैंट क्षेत्र में क्रान्तिकारी घटनाओं को अंजाम दिया।
