Dating back to around the 10th–11th century, this Shwetambar Jain temple complex was once a constellation of 27 shrines — “Saat Beis,” meaning twenty-seven — each devoted to the Tirthankaras. Today, what remains is not just stone, but memory… layered in devotion, craftsmanship, and time.
As you walk through its corridors, the Maru-Gurjara architecture unfolds like a forgotten manuscript — intricately carved pillars, ceilings blooming with lotus motifs, and figures frozen in eternal grace. Every surface whispers the devotion of artisans who shaped eternity out of sandstone.
At its spiritual heart resides Lord Adinath, the first Tirthankara — calm, meditative, untouched by the chaos of centuries. Around him once stood 27 shrines, forming a sacred mandala of faith rooted in ahimsa and detachment — core principles of Jain philosophy.
There is also a local legend that associates this sacred space with Bhima of the Mahabharata. While such stories enrich the cultural memory of the site, historical evidence firmly places the temple within the Jain tradition of medieval Rajasthan.
Restored during the reign of Maharana Kumbha in the 15th century, the temple continues to breathe — not just as a monument, but as a living space of prayer and reflection.

चित्तौड़गढ़ किले के विशाल विस्तार के भीतर एक ऐसा स्थान छिपा है, जहाँ इतिहास सुनाई नहीं देता… बल्कि महसूस होता है — श्री सातबीस देवरी जैन मंदिर।
लगभग 10वीं–11वीं शताब्दी का यह श्वेताम्बर जैन मंदिर परिसर कभी 27 मंदिरों का समूह था — “सात-बीस” अर्थात सत्ताईस। आज जो शेष है, वह केवल पत्थर नहीं, बल्कि समय में जमी हुई आस्था की परतें हैं।
इसके गलियारों में चलते हुए ऐसा लगता है मानो आप किसी प्राचीन ग्रंथ के पन्नों में प्रवेश कर रहे हों। बारीक नक्काशी वाले स्तंभ, कमल से सजी छतें और अद्भुत शिल्पकारी — हर कोना उस युग की साधना को जीवंत कर देता है।
मंदिर के गर्भगृह में विराजमान हैं भगवान आदिनाथ — प्रथम तीर्थंकर — जिनकी शांत मुद्रा आज भी समय को थामे हुए प्रतीत होती है। उनके चारों ओर कभी 27 मंदिरों का एक पवित्र मंडल था, जो जैन दर्शन की अहिंसा और वैराग्य की भावना को दर्शाता था।
स्थानीय मान्यताओं में इस स्थल को महाभारत के भीम से भी जोड़ा जाता है। हालांकि, ऐतिहासिक प्रमाण इस मंदिर को मध्यकालीन जैन परंपरा से ही जोड़ते हैं — जहाँ इतिहास और लोककथा साथ-साथ चलते हैं।
15वीं शताब्दी में महाराणा कुंभा के काल में इसका पुनरुद्धार हुआ और आज भी यह स्थान केवल एक स्मारक नहीं, बल्कि एक जीवित आध्यात्मिक केंद्र है।
