In the quiet village of Kurdi in Baghpat, there stands a Jain temple whose walls still echo the devotion of generations — the Shri 1008 Ajitnath Digambar Jain Temple, dedicated to the Second Tirthankar, Bhagwan Ajitnath.
Local elders speak of the temple being around 150–200 years old, though written historical records are scarce. What does remain visible, however, is the continuity of faith. The main Moolnayak idol, believed by the community to be 250–300 years old, sits gracefully at the heart of the sanctum, radiating a calm presence that time has not dimmed.
Within the vedi, one finds something even more intriguing — idols said to be 500–700 years old, each belonging to different Tirthankars. Their stylistic features hint toward a deeper, older spiritual layer of Kurdi’s past, suggesting that the site may have been a Jain sacred space long before the current temple structure rose. Since there are no ASI inscriptions or documented surveys, these ages remain rooted in local tradition, yet they help preserve the temple’s living memory.
As years passed, the structure began to fade, but devotion did not. In 2007, the temple was lovingly renovated, ensuring that the heritage of Ajitnath Bhagwan could continue to inspire future generations.
Today, the temple stands not just as a place of worship, but as a reminder of how communities protect their spiritual identity — through care, memory, and unbroken faith.

उत्तर प्रदेश के बागपत जिले के कुर्दी गाँव में स्थित है — श्री 1008 अजितनाथ दिगंबर जैन मंदिर, जहाँ पीढ़ियों से चली आ रही श्रद्धा आज भी उतनी ही जीवित है जितनी पहले थी। यह मंदिर दूसरे तीर्थंकर, भगवान अजितनाथ को समर्पित है।
स्थानीय मान्यताओं के अनुसार, यह मंदिर लगभग 150–200 वर्ष पुराना माना जाता है। गर्भगृह में विराजमान मूलनायक प्रतिमा, समुदाय के अनुसार, लगभग 250–300 वर्ष पुरानी मानी जाती है — एक शांत, दिव्य उपस्थिति जो समय के प्रभाव से परे प्रतीत होती है।
मंदिर की वेदियों में स्थित कुछ प्रतिमाएँ और भी प्राचीन मानी जाती हैं — स्थानीय जनश्रुति के अनुसार 500–700 वर्ष पुरानी। इनके शिल्प और स्वरूप यह संकेत देते हैं कि यह स्थान संभवतः बहुत पहले से ही जैन उपासना का केंद्र रहा होगा। इन दावों का कोई आधिकारिक पुरातात्विक अभिलेख नहीं है, इसलिए इन्हें स्थानीय परंपरा के रूप में ही प्रस्तुत किया जाता है।
समय के साथ मंदिर का स्वरूप क्षीण हुआ, पर श्रद्धा नहीं। वर्ष 2007 में इसका नवनिर्माण/जीर्णोद्धार किया गया, और मंदिर ने फिर नई ऊर्जा के साथ अपनी आध्यात्मिक यात्रा को आगे बढ़ाया।
आज यह मंदिर केवल पूजा का स्थान नहीं, बल्कि इस बात का प्रमाण है कि जब समाज अपनी विरासत को सँभालता है, तो इतिहास जीवित रहता है — पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी।
