High in the Aravalli landscape of Rajasthan, near Chainpura village in Bhilwara district, rises a quiet hill known today as Kalighati. At its summit stands a sacred Jain pilgrimage site — Shri Chanvaleshwar Parshvanath Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra.
Local Jain traditions and inscriptions connected with nearby Bijoliya speak of this region as a spiritually significant landscape associated with the divine samavasarana of Lord Parshvanath — the celestial assembly where a Tirthankara delivers his teachings.
But the temple’s story begins with a miracle.
Nearly a thousand years ago, a cow belonging to the merchant Seth Nathmal Shah repeatedly returned from grazing without milk. Curious, a cowherd followed her and discovered an astonishing sight: the cow would stand at a particular spot on the hill and gently release her milk upon the ground.
When Seth Nathmal Shah learned of this strange occurrence, he reportedly dreamt that a sacred idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath lay hidden beneath that very spot.
The next morning, guided by faith and chanting the sacred Namokar Mahamantra, Seth and his companions climbed the hill and began digging. Soon, they uncovered a beautiful Padmasana idol of Lord Parshvanath carved from grey sandstone.
Recognizing the divine significance of the discovery, Seth Nathmal Shah established a temple here. Jain sources place the temple’s consecration around 1216 CE after a Panch Kalyanaka Pratishtha ceremony.
Even today, pilgrims climb the 110 steps leading to the hilltop shrine. Each step feels like a journey through centuries of devotion — where faith, legend, and history converge.
The quiet hill of Chanvaleshwar continues to remind visitors that sometimes the greatest discoveries are guided not by maps, but by belief.

राजस्थान के भीलवाड़ा जिले में, चेनपुरा गाँव के पास अरावली पर्वतमाला की एक शांत पहाड़ी पर स्थित है — श्री चंवलेश्वर पार्श्वनाथ दिगम्बर जैन अतिशय क्षेत्र।
जैन परम्पराओं और बिजौलिया से जुड़े प्राचीन अभिलेखों के अनुसार यह क्षेत्र भगवान पार्श्वनाथ के समवसरण की यात्रा से जुड़ा हुआ माना जाता है — वह दिव्य सभा जहाँ तीर्थंकर अपने उपदेश देते हैं।
लेकिन इस तीर्थ की कहानी एक चमत्कार से शुरू होती है।
लगभग एक हजार वर्ष पूर्व, सेठ नथमल शाह की एक गाय रोज़ चरने जाती और बिना दूध दिए वापस लौट आती। एक दिन एक ग्वाले ने उसका पीछा किया और देखा कि वह पहाड़ी के एक स्थान पर खड़ी होकर स्वयं ही अपना दूध भूमि पर अर्पित कर देती है।
जब यह बात सेठ नथमल शाह को बताई गई, तो उसी रात उन्हें स्वप्न आया कि उसी स्थान के नीचे भगवान पार्श्वनाथ की एक दिव्य प्रतिमा छिपी हुई है।
अगले दिन सेठ नथमल शाह अपने साथियों के साथ नमोकार महामंत्र का जाप करते हुए उस स्थान पर पहुँचे और खुदाई शुरू की। कुछ ही समय में भूमि के भीतर से भगवान पार्श्वनाथ की पद्मासन मुद्रा में बनी एक सुंदर धूसर पत्थर की प्रतिमा प्राप्त हुई।
इस अद्भुत खोज से प्रेरित होकर सेठ नथमल शाह ने यहाँ मंदिर का निर्माण करवाया। जैन परम्पराओं के अनुसार पंचकल्याणक प्रतिष्ठा के साथ इस मंदिर की प्रतिष्ठा लगभग 1216 ईस्वी में हुई।
आज भी श्रद्धालु इस मंदिर तक पहुँचने के लिए लगभग 110 सीढ़ियाँ चढ़ते हैं। हर सीढ़ी मानो श्रद्धा और इतिहास के उस मार्ग की याद दिलाती है, जहाँ विश्वास ने एक छिपे हुए तीर्थ को उजागर किया।
