On Mawana Road, away from the city’s rush, stands the Sikh Regiment Heritage Gurudwara. Calm, white, and surrounded by greenery—it appears peaceful. But within its walls lies documented history, not just memory.
The roots of this place trace back to the Sikh Regiment—one of the oldest infantry regiments, officially raised on 1 August 1846 during the final phase of the Sikh Empire under the British East India Company.
Meerut was once a crucial centre for this regiment. From 1929 to 1976, the Sikh Regimental Centre was stationed here before moving to Ramgarh Cantonment, Jharkhand. This Gurudwara stands as a legacy of that very presence.
And here, history is not assumed—it is inscribed.
An original foundation stone within the Gurudwara clearly records that it was laid on 26 December 1955 by Lt. General His Highness Maharaja Dhiraj Yadavindra Singh of Patiala—a rare and powerful intersection of royalty and military leadership.
Another inscription reveals an even deeper connection across borders. The Nishan Sahib here was reconstructed on 2 September 1973, using original marble stones brought by devotees from Nowshera (Pakistan)—stones that were carried during the turmoil of Partition in 1947. It also records that the first Nishan Sahib at that location dates back to September 1923.
And then comes the silence that speaks the loudest—
the memory of Saragarhi (1897), where 21 Sikh soldiers stood against thousands and attained immortality. Their spirit lives here—not through noise, but through presence.
A historic fountain, built on 16 June 1967, still stands inside the परिसर—its design echoing the craftsmanship of its time.
As daylight fades, the Gurudwara glows softly under lights, and what remains is not just architecture—but emotion, discipline, and sacrifice.

मेरठ में कुछ जगहें ऐसी हैं जहाँ इतिहास सिर्फ मौजूद नहीं होता—वह खुद बोलता है।
मवाना रोड पर स्थित सिख रेजीमेंट हेरिटेज गुरुद्वारा बाहर से शांत और सादा दिखता है, लेकिन इसके भीतर दर्ज इतिहास इसे एक जीवित धरोहर बना देता है।
इस गुरुद्वारे का संबंध सिख रेजीमेंट से है, जिसकी स्थापना 1 अगस्त 1846 को हुई थी। यह रेजीमेंट भारतीय सेना की सबसे पुरानी इकाइयों में से एक है।
1929 से 1976 तक मेरठ इस रेजीमेंट का महत्वपूर्ण केंद्र रहा, और इसी कालखंड की याद में यह गुरुद्वारा स्थापित हुआ।
यहाँ इतिहास किसी कहानी पर आधारित नहीं है—बल्कि पत्थरों पर खुदा हुआ है।
गुरुद्वारे में लगा शिलालेख स्पष्ट रूप से बताता है कि इसकी नींव 26 दिसंबर 1955 को लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल महामहिम महाराजा धीरज यादवेंद्र सिंह, पटियाला द्वारा रखी गई थी।
एक अन्य शिलालेख के अनुसार, यहाँ का निशान साहिब 2 सितंबर 1973 को पुनर्निर्मित किया गया, जिसमें संगमरमर के वे मूल पत्थर उपयोग किए गए जो 1947 के विभाजन के समय नौशेरा (पाकिस्तान) से श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा लाए गए थे। साथ ही यह भी दर्ज है कि वहाँ पहला निशान साहिब सितंबर 1923 में स्थापित किया गया था।
यह स्थान सारागढ़ी (1897) के वीर सिख सैनिकों के बलिदान की भावना को भी अपने भीतर संजोए हुए है।
16 जून 1967 को बना भव्य फव्वारा आज भी उस दौर की कारीगरी को दर्शाता है।
शाम के समय जब रोशनी में यह गुरुद्वारा नहाता है, तो यह केवल एक इमारत नहीं रह जाता—यह इतिहास, आस्था और बलिदान का संगम बन जाता है।
यह सिर्फ देखने की जगह नहीं है—
