Firoz Khan's Tomb, Agra.
Firoz Khan's Tomb, Agra.
In the village of Tal Firoz Khan, just five kilometers from Agra, stood the majestic tomb of Firoz Khan Khwajasara, a nobleman and military commander of the Mughal Empire. Serving under emperors Akbar, Jahangir, and Shah Jahan, Firoz Khan was honored with the title of Diwan-i-Kul. He built his tomb in 1647, an octagonal marvel of red and grey sandstone, featuring a grand hemispherical dome and surrounded by a large tank.
However, as the years passed, neglect took its toll. The tomb became shrouded in garbage, and the once-glimmering tank fell into disrepair. The intricate carvings and ornamental brackets, which once spoke of grandeur, were now overshadowed by encroachment and decay.
Despite its dilapidated state, the tomb remained a poignant reminder of Firoz Khan's legacy—a testament to a life of valor and ambition, waiting for the day it would be remembered and restored.
