Guru Ka Tal, Agra – Where History Meets Heroism. Near Sikandra in Agra stands a monument of both faith and resistance — Guru Ka Tal, a revered Gurudwara dedicated to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru. It is at this very site that the Guru voluntarily surrendered to Emperor Aurangzeb, upholding the right of every individual to practice their faith freely — a sacrifice that ultimately led to his martyrdom. Every year, thousands of devotees gather here to pay homage to the great Guru and his followers, who were martyred for safeguarding religious freedom in India. But before it became a spiritual landmark, this place was a 17th-century reservoir. Built in 1610 AD during Emperor Jahangir’s reign, the Taal was designed to collect and conserve rainwater. It served as an irrigation source during dry seasons and was richly decorated with intricate stone carvings.
