Kanvashram – The Birthplace Of Emperor Bharat,son of Shakuntala & Dushyant,Kotdwar,Uttarakhand. India is called Bharat or Bharatvarsha. It is believed that it named after King Bharat. India's real name is Bharat and it was kept after the name of Bharat Chakravarti the eldest son of First Jain Tirthankar RISHABH DEV OR ADINATH He is also known as Ikshvaku, establisher of the Ikshvaku dynasty & it is said that it is solely gift of Jainism in terms of name Bharat and its original source of Civilisation of Bharat today called India. but not many people would be able to name his birthplace, leave alone locate it. StudioDharma happened to visit Kanvashram – the heritage of Rishi Kanva on the banks of River Malini in Uttarakhand. That is when a lot of stories from the scriptures and ancient Indian literature came alive. Be it the story of Shakuntala or the story of her parents Vishwamitra and Menaka or the story of Kuru King Dushyant. The Story of the Birth of Emperor Bharat Once upon a time, in the foothills of the Himalayas was the Ashram of Rishi Vishwamitra. His intense meditation worried Indra – the king of heaven. To distract him, he sent his most beautiful Apsara Menaka to earth. She managed to distract him and from their union was born a girl named Shakuntala. Shakuntala was left at Rishi Kanva’s ashram, which was not far from Rishi Viswamitra’s ashram that is identified at the nearby hill where there is a famous Siddha Bali Hanuman temple. Shakuntala grew up in the forests among the animals and birds. Dushyant – the king of Hastinapur, which is around present-day Meerut city visited the forest around the place for deer hunting. He met Shakuntala there and married her. A son was born to them – he was named Bharat. Kanvashram was on the old pilgrim route to Kedarnath and Badrinath. In the old texts, it is mentioned as a mandatory stop on the way to these two important shrines. The route was to be done completely on foot passing by forests and crossing rivers. In the process, it became a pilgrim spot from being a thriving gurukul. Kanvashram is in the list of top ten heritage places for Swachh Iconic Placesselected by the Government of India for 2018. कण्वाश्रम - शकुंतला और दुष्यंत के पुत्र सम्राट भरत का जन्मस्थान, कोटद्वार, उत्तराखंड। भारत को भारत या भारतवर्ष कहा जाता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इसका नाम राजा भरत के नाम पर पड़ा। भारत का असली नाम भारत है और यह भरत चक्रवर्ती के नाम पर रखा गया था, जो जैन धर्म के पहले तीर्थंकर ऋषभ देव या आदिनाथ के सबसे बड़े पुत्र थे। उन्हें इक्ष्वाकु के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, जो इक्ष्वाकु वंश के संस्थापक थे और ऐसा कहा जाता है कि भारत नाम और भारत की सभ्यता के मूल स्रोत के संदर्भ में यह पूरी तरह से जैन धर्म की देन है, जिसे आज इंडिया कहा जाता है। लेकिन बहुत से लोग उनके जन्मस्थान का नाम नहीं बता पाएंगे, उसे ढूँढ़ना तो दूर की बात है। स्टूडियो धर्मा ने उत्तराखंड में मालिनी नदी के तट पर ऋषि कण्व की विरासत कण्वाश्रम का दौरा किया। यहीं पर शास्त्रों और प्राचीन भारतीय साहित्य की कई कहानियाँ जीवंत हो उठीं। चाहे वह शकुंतला की कहानी हो या उसके माता-पिता विश्वामित्र और मेनका की कहानी या कुरु राजा दुष्यंत की कहानी। सम्राट भरत के जन्म की कहानी एक बार की बात है, हिमालय की तलहटी में ऋषि विश्वामित्र का आश्रम था। उनके गहन ध्यान ने स्वर्ग के राजा इंद्र को चिंतित कर दिया। उनका ध्यान भटकाने के लिए, उन्होंने अपनी सबसे सुंदर अप्सरा मेनका को धरती पर भेजा। वह उनका ध्यान भटकाने में सफल रही और उनके मिलन से शकुंतला नाम की एक लड़की का जन्म हुआ। शकुंतला को ऋषि कण्व के आश्रम में छोड़ दिया गया, जो ऋषि विश्वामित्र के आश्रम से बहुत दूर नहीं था, जिसकी पहचान पास की पहाड़ी पर की गई है, जहाँ एक प्रसिद्ध सिद्ध बलि हनुमान मंदिर है। शकुंतला जंगल में जानवरों और पक्षियों के बीच पली-बढ़ी। हस्तिनापुर के राजा दुष्यंत, जो वर्तमान मेरठ शहर के आसपास है, हिरण के शिकार के लिए उस जगह के आसपास के जंगल में गए। वहाँ उनकी शकुंतला से मुलाकात हुई और उन्होंने उससे विवाह किया। उनके एक पुत्र का जन्म हुआ - जिसका नाम भरत रखा गया। कण्वाश्रम केदारनाथ और बद्रीनाथ के पुराने तीर्थ मार्ग पर था। पुराने ग्रंथों में, इसे इन दो महत्वपूर्ण तीर्थस्थलों के रास्ते में एक अनिवार्य पड़ाव के रूप में उल्लेख किया गया है। यह मार्ग पूरी तरह से पैदल ही तय किया जाना था, जिसमें जंगलों से गुज़रना और नदियों को पार करना शामिल था। इस प्रक्रिया में, यह एक संपन्न गुरुकुल से तीर्थस्थल बन गया। कण्वाश्रम 2018 के लिए भारत सरकार द्वारा चुने गए स्वच्छ प्रतिष्ठित स्थानों की शीर्ष दस विरासत स्थलों की सूची में शामिल है।
