In the heart of Meerut, along the ever-busy Sharda Road, stands a temple so quiet… that most people never notice it.
Hidden within the premises of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha office, this sacred space does not announce itself with grandeur. Instead, it waits — patiently — to be discovered.
This is the Prachean Shri Radha Krishna Temple, a shrine believed to be around 125–150 years old, carrying with it a legacy of devotion rooted in Meerut’s past.
The story takes us back to the time of the city’s respected Nagar Seth, Shri Shambhu Dayal Jain Ji. It was his wife, Sundara Devi Jain Ji, a deeply spiritual and devoted woman, who envisioned and built this temple — not as a structure, but as an offering of faith.
It is said that during the construction, a wandering saint passed through this very site. Moved by her devotion, he entrusted her with a sacred idol of Lord Krishna — an idol that would become the soul of this temple.
Years turned into decades. The city evolved, roads grew busier, and buildings rose higher. Yet, this temple remained — small, silent, and spiritually powerful.
In recent years, some historians and observers visited this shrine and made a striking observation. They suggested that the Krishna idol appears to be made from a similar type of stone and possibly belongs to a period comparable to revered idols like those of Vrindavan and Nathdwara.
While this remains a belief and not a formally verified archaeological conclusion, it deepens the aura of mystery and reverence around this sacred space.
Today, this temple stands as a reminder — that divinity does not always reside in grand monuments.
Sometimes, it hides in the quietest corners… waiting to be felt.

एक ऐसा मंदिर भी है… जिसे ज़्यादातर लोग देख ही नहीं पाते।
अखिल भारत हिंदू महासभा के परिसर के भीतर छिपा हुआ यह स्थान किसी भव्यता से नहीं, बल्कि अपनी शांति से पहचाना जाता है।
यह है प्राचीन श्री राधा कृष्ण मंदिर, जिसकी आयु लगभग 125–150 वर्ष मानी जाती है — एक ऐसी विरासत जो आस्था और इतिहास दोनों को अपने भीतर समेटे हुए है।
इस कहानी की शुरुआत होती है मेरठ के नगर सेठ श्री शंभू दयाल जैन जी से।
लेकिन इस मंदिर की आत्मा हैं उनकी धर्मपरायण पत्नी सुंदरा देवी जैन जी, जिन्होंने इसे केवल बनवाया नहीं… बल्कि अपनी भक्ति से इसे जीवंत किया।
कहा जाता है कि मंदिर के निर्माण के दौरान एक संत यहाँ से गुज़रे।
उनकी श्रद्धा को देखकर उन्होंने उन्हें भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की एक पवित्र मूर्ति भेंट की — वही मूर्ति आज इस मंदिर का केंद्र है।
समय बदलता गया, शहर बदलता गया…
लेकिन यह मंदिर अपनी जगह अडिग रहा — छोटा, शांत, लेकिन अद्भुत आध्यात्मिक ऊर्जा से भरपूर।
कुछ वर्ष पहले, कुछ इतिहासकारों और जानकारों ने इस मूर्ति को देखा और यह मत व्यक्त किया कि यह संभवतः उसी प्रकार के पत्थर और कालखंड की प्रतीत होती है, जैसे वृंदावन और नाथद्वारा की प्रसिद्ध मूर्तियाँ।
हालांकि यह एक मान्यता है, कोई प्रमाणित तथ्य नहीं,
लेकिन इससे इस मंदिर की रहस्यमयता और श्रद्धा और भी गहरी हो जाती है।
यह मंदिर हमें यह सिखाता है —
कि ईश्वर हमेशा भव्यता में नहीं बसते…
कभी-कभी वह सादगी में, शांति में… और छिपे हुए स्थानों में भी मिलते हैं।
