Hidden amidst the rugged terrain of Rajasthan, Bijolia is not just a destination — it is a pause in time. Among its ancient ruins stands the Parshvanath Jain Temple, where every stone seems to carry centuries of devotion.
Constructed around 1170 CE during the reign of the Chauhan ruler Someshvara, this temple is believed to have been commissioned by a merchant patron. Built in the Panchayatan style, the central shrine is surrounded by four smaller shrines — a reflection of balance, both architectural and spiritual.
But Bijolia is more than history.
Jain traditions speak of a merchant from Ujjain, Shri Lolark, who, guided by a divine dream, discovered an idol of Parshvanath near a pond. The idol later disappeared mysteriously, and a new one was consecrated — leaving behind a story that continues to live between faith and mystery.
According to Jain beliefs, this sacred land holds an even deeper significance. It is said to be associated with the attainment of Keval Gyan by Parshvanath and is also believed to be the first site of his Samavasarana — the divine preaching assembly where he delivered his teachings. Additionally, many traditions regard this site as being over 2,750 years old, elevating its spiritual importance far beyond its recorded history.
While these remain matters of faith and tradition rather than historically verified evidence, they form the very soul of Bijolia.
Even in later times, the mystery endured. Local accounts narrate that in 1858, British explorers attempted excavation here, only to be driven away by swarms of bees — with stories of milk flowing from the earth adding to its mystique.
Today, Bijolia Parshvanath Temple stands not just as a monument, but as an experience — where silence speaks, and belief lingers long after you leave.

बिजोलिया पारसनाथ जैन मंदिर, भीलवाड़ा – जहाँ समय भी ठहर जाता है
राजस्थान की कठोर धरती पर बसा बिजोलिया केवल एक स्थान नहीं, बल्कि समय का एक ठहरा हुआ क्षण है। यहाँ के प्राचीन अवशेषों के बीच स्थित पारसनाथ जैन मंदिर आस्था और इतिहास का अद्भुत संगम प्रस्तुत करता है।
लगभग 1170 ईस्वी में चौहान शासक सोमेश्वर के काल में निर्मित यह मंदिर एक व्यापारी द्वारा बनवाया गया माना जाता है। इसकी पंचायतन शैली की वास्तुकला इसे विशेष बनाती है, जहाँ एक मुख्य मंदिर के चारों ओर अन्य छोटे मंदिर स्थित हैं।
लेकिन बिजोलिया केवल इतिहास नहीं है।
जैन परंपराओं के अनुसार, उज्जैन के एक व्यापारी श्री लोलार्क को एक दिव्य स्वप्न प्राप्त हुआ, जिसने उन्हें एक तालाब के पास खुदाई करने को प्रेरित किया। वहाँ से पारसनाथ की एक प्रतिमा प्राप्त हुई, जो बाद में रहस्यमय रूप से लुप्त हो गई और पुनः नई प्रतिमा स्थापित की गई।
मान्यताओं के अनुसार, यह स्थान भगवान पारसनाथ के केवलज्ञान से जुड़ा हुआ है और इसे उनके समवसरण का प्रथम स्थल भी माना जाता है, जहाँ उन्होंने अपने उपदेश दिए। साथ ही, कई परंपराएँ इस स्थल को 2750 वर्ष से भी अधिक प्राचीन मानती हैं।
हालाँकि ये बातें ऐतिहासिक रूप से प्रमाणित नहीं हैं, लेकिन श्रद्धालुओं के लिए इसका अत्यधिक धार्मिक महत्व है।
एक स्थानीय कथा के अनुसार, 1858 में अंग्रेजों ने यहाँ खुदाई का प्रयास किया, लेकिन मधुमक्खियों के झुंड ने उन्हें भगा दिया और जमीन से दूध निकलने की बात भी कही जाती है — जो इस स्थान के रहस्य को और गहरा करती है।
आज यह मंदिर केवल एक स्मारक नहीं, बल्कि एक अनुभव है — जहाँ इतिहास और आस्था एक साथ जीवित हैं।
