Kundalpur – Birthplace of Tirthankar Mahavir Swami Ji.
Kundalpur, also known as Kundagrama, located in Nalanda district of Bihar, is traditionally revered as the birthplace of Tirthankar Mahavir Swami Ji, the 24th and last Tirthankar of Jainism. He was born to King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala of the Nāya clan. This ancient site was part of the Licchavi republic—one of India’s earliest known democratic systems.
Archaeological excavations in the region have revealed settlements from the Mauryan and Shunga periods, confirming the historical significance of Kundalpur. Today, it houses six Jain temples and is an important pilgrimage destination where Mahavir Janma Kalyanak is celebrated with great spiritual fervor.
Kundalpur is also believed to be the birthplace of four out of the eleven Ganadharas (chief disciples) of Tirthankar Mahavir Swami Ji, including Gautama Swami.
कुंडलपुर – तीर्थंकर महावीर स्वामी जी की जन्मभूमि
कुंडलपुर, जिसे जैन ग्रंथों में कुंडग्राम भी कहा गया है, बिहार के नालंदा ज़िले में स्थित है और पारंपरिक रूप से तीर्थंकर महावीर स्वामी जी, जैन धर्म के 24वें और अंतिम तीर्थंकर, का जन्मस्थान माना जाता है। उनका जन्म नाया वंश के राजा सिद्धार्थ और रानी तृषला के यहां हुआ था। यह स्थान प्राचीन लिच्छवी गणराज्य का हिस्सा था, जो भारत की प्रारंभिक लोकतांत्रिक व्यवस्थाओं में गिना जाता है।
यहाँ के पुरातात्विक उत्खननों में मौर्य और शुंग काल के अवशेष मिले हैं, जो कुंडलपुर की ऐतिहासिक महत्ता को दर्शाते हैं। वर्तमान में यहाँ छह जैन मंदिरों का एक तीर्थ परिसर है, जहाँ महावीर जन्म कल्याणक अत्यंत श्रद्धा और उल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है।
कुंडलपुर को तीर्थंकर महावीर स्वामी जी के ग्यारह गणधरों में से चार के जन्मस्थान के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जिनमें प्रमुख हैं गौतम स्वामी।
